BrainsWay SWIFT™ 6-day + Taper Deep TMS
Integrative Mind offers a 6-day plus tapered accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) protocol lowers the number of visits by over 70%.
This approach condenses a six to eight-week TMS treatment into 6 days of treatment, completed within 14 days. Each of the 6 days entails 5 treatments, lasting approximately 3 hours.
Following this intensive, weekly tapering visits continue, with one weekly visit for 4 weeks. Efficacy was shown to higher than the standard protocol with 87.8% response and 78.0% remission rates, respectively.

5-day Intensive Relief Program
A 5-day intensive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is completed over five days. This offers a concentrated dose of TMS with a dedicated office space during the treatment course.
This is a higher intensity treatment, with 50 total treatments over the 5 day period (vs. 36 treatments for the standard and 6-day protocols). This treatment has shown compelling effectiveness (Shi et al., 2024) with a favorable safety profile but in a highly compressed format, with a nearly 90% reduction in office visits and is modeled after the SAINT protocol developed at Stanford University.

How Does Accelerated TMS Work?
Using Magnetic Stimulation to Improve Brain Function
TMS uses gentle magnetic pulses to stimulate specific areas of the brain involved in mood regulation. These pulses help restore normal brain activity, which may reduce symptoms of depression.
The dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) is often the main target because it plays a key role in mood and emotional balance (Arubuolawe et al., 2024). By repeatedly stimulating this area, the brain may create new, healthier patterns of activity, leading to lasting improvements in mental health.
How Effective Is Accelerated TMS?
80% response rate and a 51% remission
For those with treatment-resistant depression, accelerated TMS can be a promising option. Studies show that this treatment can significantly reduce depression symptoms, even in people who haven’t responded to medications or therapy. Research suggests that many people continue to improve even after treatment ends, but long-term results may vary. Some may benefit from occasional follow-up sessions or additional support (Shi et al., 2024).
How Soon Can You Feel Results?
For the 6-day + Taper Protocol, patients can feel improvement within 2-3 weeks (vs. 4+ weeks with standard treatment). Improvement in symptoms typically continue for weeks after treatment conclusion.
For the 5-day Intensive, some people notice improvement within days, with most experiencing noticeable benefits by the end of the five-day treatment course (Shi et al., 2024). Symptoms will also typically improve for an extended period of time after treatrment.

Insurance Coverage
Unlike standard TMS treatment, accelerated TMS is not typically included in insurance coverage. Ongoing research provides advancements in TMS technology to give rise to newer TMS treatment protocols, such as accelerated TMS. However, additional time is required to reach FDA approval and for insurance providers to expand their coverage.
This may be important for you to take into consideration when exploring your treatment options. Other critical factors between standard TMS and accelerated TMS protocols are captured below:
| Standard TMS | Accelerated TMS | |
|---|---|---|
| Treatment Duration | 4 to 6 weeks; 1 session/day for 5 days/week | 6-Day+ Taper: 6 days: 5 sessions/day + 4 week taper period 5 day Intensive: 5 days: 10 sessions/day |
| Total Number of Sessions | 30 sessions | Protocol-dependent: 36 or 50 sessions |
| Insurance Coverage | Often covered by insurance (subject to medical necessity | Not covered by most insurers (out-of-pocket) |
| Cost | $10,000 (Typically copay/deductible; remainder covered by insurance) | $9,900 (6-day + taper)* $12,000 (5-day Intensive) |
| Ideal Candidate | Patients able to commit to daily sessions over several weeks | Preferred for patients who need rapid results or who have time constraints |
* Payment plans may be available for the 6-Day + Taper protocol
