Our Practice in 2026

As we begin 2026, we start with messages of hope and promise to those in the Brooklyn community and beyond suffering from the hallmarks of mental health illnesses.
The treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders is changing, with significant innovation occurring across multiple areas simultaneously. Interventional psychiatry (ketamine / Spravato and brain stimulation protocols) have begun to meaningfully impact the lives of many who have tried medication with unsatisfactory results. We are experiencing a renaissance of sorts, as treatment protocol experimentation and research have given way to more convenient protocols (see here and here), novel devices, and broader applicability of interventional techniques than ever before.
While medication remains the front line treatment for most mood disorders and their effectiveness has been proven through many clinical trials spanning decades, the complexity of the brain and context has emerged as important factors in symptom resolution.
For our practice, this means thinking about the whole person: their environment, the food / exercise they participate in, and the psychological aspects and behavioral response that combines with neuropharmacology. Many things contribute to a person's well-being and the challenge is finding the kinds of change that find the right balance between effectiveness, sustainability, and tolerability.
As we move to a world where digital and being online is increasingly being scrutinized, we have begun to embrace the therapeutic benefits of in-person visits to supplement virtual appointments, which have become commonplace in the wake of COVID-19. While the convenience of virtual is powerful, there is often no substitute to being able to see each other and interact face-to-face.
Our task as a practice is to engage the community where they are. We look forward to supporting you in your care journey as we continue to bring innovation to our Brooklyn and greater New York community.
